You Make It Feel Like Christmas by Sophie Sullivan

Robin’s Reviews – 2025

You’re probably thinking pumpkins, mums, and fall leaves, but a new romcom for the Christmas season was just released! If you like your romcoms with some spice, YOU MAKE IT FEEL LIKE CHRISTMAS by Sophie Sullivan is for you.

Book Summary

Maisie is a successful photographer from Seattle. She’s excited to spend Christmas with her family, something they haven’t done for awhile, and the invitation to stay at a Christmas tree farm sounds just perfect! Her brother’s husband has invited them to join his family at his sister’s house where she runs the tree farm. Maisie’s excitement is dampened when she runs into one of the other guests—Nick, a man who left her without as much as a goodbye after an amazing one-night stand six months ago.

Maisie already feels inadequate and thinks she’s disappointed her parents who don’t believe photography is a real job. Now she has to deal with her mixed feelings about Nick, too.

Nick, a professional hockey player, is working through issues of his own. The recent passing of his mother, even though he didn’t have a good relationship with her, has caused him emotional stress. He also feels guilt at not being around enough for his sister and nephew when she went through her divorce. Now add a recent injury that isn’t healing as quickly as he’d hoped. Nick finds himself spiraling out of control with occasional anxiety attacks.

Will the forced proximity of Maisie and Nick push them together or apart? Will a better understanding of what happened the morning Nick left Maisie give them a second chance at love?

A sweet and spicy romance, YOU MAKE IT FEEL LIKE CHRISTMAS is a light read that also brings a mental health issue into the spotlight through supportive and caring characters.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martins Press for the ARC of this novel.

She has won the Canadian Book Club Award for best romance twice, for TEN RULES FOR FAKING IT and HOW TO LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR. Her day job is teaching, and she spends spare time with her family watching reruns of Friends. Besides her Sophie Sullivan books, she writes cozy mysteries and romances under her alter ego’s name, Jody Holford.
